About Us
The story and the person behind RPG Adventure Studio.

William W. Winter
Founder & Creator, RPG Adventure Studio
William W. Winter is a lifelong fan of tile-based role-playing games — the kind you'd find loading off a floppy disk on an Apple II or a Commodore 64. He grew up mapping dungeons on graph paper, hand-drawing tiles pixel by pixel, and dreaming up worlds long before he had the tools to build them.
He built RPG Adventure Studio to give that same magic to anyone with an idea and a browser. No installs, no engines to wrestle with, no art pipeline to learn — just a tile editor, a map, a few NPCs, and a story waiting to be told.
When he isn't shipping new features, William is usually playtesting somebody else's published adventure, sketching a new monster, or chasing down "just one more" quest idea before bed.
Why this exists
The best retro RPGs were made by tiny teams — sometimes one person — with a clear vision and a lot of love. RPG Adventure Studio is built on the belief that those tools should be available to everyone, that the barrier between "I have an idea" and "people are playing my game" should be as small as possible.

If parser-driven worlds of words are more your speed, William also created Text Adventure Studio — a browser-based toolkit for building classic Infocom-style interactive fiction.
It's the same philosophy as RPG Adventure Studio, applied to a different golden age: write rooms, define objects, script verbs, and publish a playable adventure without ever leaving your browser.
